As the city (and west coast\u2019s) largest art fair, and one of the most diversely programmed in the world, the LA Art Show features an encyclopedic lineup of exhibitors not only in contemporary art, but also classical art, antiques, folk art, and other specialized art scenes that often command their own dedicated shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For its 24th edition, the LA Art Show is expanding even further into the global art market with a new lineup of&nbsp;<strong>DIVERSEartLA&nbsp;<\/strong>programming, conceived by curator&nbsp;<strong>Marisa Caichiolo<\/strong>&nbsp;and premiered in 2017. Leading the way is a new partnership with Argentina\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Kirchner Cultural Centre&nbsp;<\/strong>(in Spanish known as&nbsp;<strong>Centro Cultural Kirchner<\/strong>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<strong>CCK<\/strong>), which will be exhibiting the work of&nbsp;<strong>Andr\u00e9s Paredes<\/strong>&nbsp;and his \u201cThe Memories of Mud\u201d installation. The installation is a participative, multisensory experience comprised of clay domes that house fantastical landscapes. Viewers can only see this when they immerse their heads in ports at the bottom of the installation, creating an experience comparable to putting on a VR headset\u2014except this is real. The exhibition utilizes scent, originally composed music and a careful system of indirect lighting to illuminate the artful environment. The&nbsp;<strong>Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA)<\/strong>&nbsp;will also be returning with programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Returning exhibitors in CORE so far include heavyweights&nbsp;<strong>Patrick Painter, Konig Gallery<\/strong>&nbsp;and more. The section is also growing with the addition of Japan\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Mizuma Gallery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s programming will feature a special showcase of traditional pan-Asian ink painting. Japan\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Kamiya Gallery<\/strong>&nbsp;will bring the works of the internationally renown ink painter<strong>Yu-Ichi Inoue<\/strong>, which will exhibit along with ink paintings from China and, for the first time ever at the LA Art Show, South Korea. LA Art Show producer Kim Martindale started showcasing Chinese ink painting five years ago, and this element has grown each year. This is the only fair of its size outside of Asia that exhibits this kind of work. \u201cInk painting has a longer tradition in the art world in Asia than all of western art, yet it\u2019s a whole world that many of us have never been introduced to,\u201d explains Martindale. \u201cInk painting is an equally important and as large of an art world as western painting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Returning in ROOTS are&nbsp;<strong>MS Rau<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Reiss Gallery<\/strong>&nbsp;and New York\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Trinity House<\/strong>. The LA Art Show will be hosting some exceptional Native American and Australian aboriginal work as well, this year.&nbsp;<strong>Blue Rain Gallery<\/strong>, respected as the best gallery for American Indian art, will be returning.&nbsp;<strong>Yama Ganu Gallery<\/strong>&nbsp;will be exhibiting their selection of the best work from the various aboriginal regions in Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other returning galleries include&nbsp;<strong>Denis Bloch Fine Art, Pigment Gallery,<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Simard Bilodeau Contemporary<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Pimbert Gallery<\/strong>. The&nbsp;<strong>Design LA Art<\/strong>&nbsp;section, which made its premiere last year to showcase the harmony between architecture, interior design and art, will be returning with a revamped curatorial focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LA Art Show\u2019s Opening Night Preview and Premiere Party, which will be held on January 23, 2019, will donate a portion of its ticket proceedings to&nbsp;<strong>St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital<\/strong>. Last year, the evening was attended by more than 7,000 VIPs and hosted by&nbsp;<strong>Jon Hamm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.laartshow.com\/exhibitor-application\/\">Gallery applications<\/a>&nbsp;are currently being accepted.
