Notre premier sentiment est de trouver beau ou laid, tel b\u00e2timent, telle robe, tel objet, ind\u00e9pendamment de toute autre opinion critique qui \u00e9merge avec le temps,&nbsp; l\u2019exp\u00e9rience ou l\u2019usage. Malgr\u00e9 la tendance actuelle qui veut que l\u2019architecture doive \u00eatre appr\u00e9hend\u00e9e en marge de toute consid\u00e9ration li\u00e9e a l&#8217;id\u00e9e de beaut\u00e9, trop subjective, l\u2019esth\u00e9tique demeure une notion fondamentale dans les processus cr\u00e9atifs. \u00c0 ce titre, elle ne peut \u00eatre \u00e9cart\u00e9e des choix conceptuels et m\u00e9thodologiques \u00e9tablis dans un contexte technique, social et historique particulier.&nbsp;<br>C&#8217;est pourquoi je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re parler d&#8217;<em>affect<\/em>, recherch\u00e9 et ressenti, qui permet d&#8217;envisager l\u2019esth\u00e9tique architecturale sous un angle moins arbitraire que l\u2019opposition beau\/laid ; l&#8217; affect reposant sur des notions plus consensuelles comme l\u2019impression de l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9, de transparence, de pliss\u00e9, d&#8217;al\u00e9atoire ; ou encore de vibration, de cin\u00e9tique, de moir\u00e9, de lumi\u00e8re ; mais aussi l\u2019alternance, l\u2019\u00e9talement, de profondeur (cette liste laconique n&#8217;\u00e9tant pas exhaustive).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chez Renzo Piano, l\u2019esth\u00e9tique architecturale proc\u00e8de toujours d&#8217;un choix d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9ment associ\u00e9 \u00e0 des \u00e9l\u00e9ments, mat\u00e9riels ou immat\u00e9riels, relevant de la conception (construction, mat\u00e9riau, fonction, forme, force, caract\u00e8re, qualit\u00e9&#8230;), ce qui explique que les conditions de sa manifestation sont si \u00e9troitement li\u00e9es \u00e0 la raison d\u2019\u00eatre ou \u00e0 la mat\u00e9rialit\u00e9 de l\u2019architecture qui l\u2019arbore.&nbsp;<br>La forme embl\u00e9matique du stade de football San Nicola \u00e0 Bari, dans la r\u00e9gion des Pouilles, \u00e9voquant une fleur ouverte, trouve son origine dans la double n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de ventiler naturellement le b\u00e2timent, dans une r\u00e9gion o\u00f9 il fait souvent tr\u00e8s chaud, et de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de s\u00e9parer physiquement les groupes de supporters, pour des raisons \u00e9videntes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, comme nous l&#8217;explique Piano : \u00ab&nbsp; Voil\u00e0 pourquoi nous avons proc\u00e9d\u00e9 par blocs, ce que nous avons appel\u00e9 ensuite les &#8220;p\u00e9tales&#8221; du stade. Chacun d&#8217; entre eux ne devait pas contenir plus de deux mille personnes. Deux mille personnes, vous le savez, c\u2019est la population moyenne d&#8217;un th\u00e9\u00e2tre. Dans ces conditions il est possible de tenir une foule.&nbsp;\u00bb Puis il compl\u00e8te : Si le b\u00e2timent avait \u00e9t\u00e9 trop ferm\u00e9, on aurait eu un probl\u00e8me de chaleur.&nbsp; L\u2019ouverture a permis aussi de cr\u00e9er la ventilation. Beaucoup d&#8217;\u00e9tudes techniques ont \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9es pour r\u00e9soudre ce probl\u00e8me. Dans cette profession, l\u2019esth\u00e9tique d&#8217;un b\u00e2timent ou d&#8217;une pi\u00e8ce se marie toujours \u00e0 sa signification, \u00e0 sa destination.&nbsp;\u00bb Le r\u00e9sultat visible de cette conception li\u00e9e a l\u2019usage et au confort se traduit finalement par une sensation de l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 inhabituelle pour une construction en b\u00e9ton, d&#8217;o\u00f9 r\u00e9sulte toute l&#8217;esth\u00e9tique du projet. L&#8217;\u00e9quilibre des pleins et des vides, le soul\u00e8vement de I&#8217;ensemble, la transparence que cela g\u00e9n\u00e8re, all\u00e9ge visuellement le projet jusqu\u2019\u00e0 le rendre \u00ab&nbsp;beau&nbsp;\u00bb.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(\u2026)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette esth\u00e9tique architecturale, cette notion de beaut\u00e9 est partie prenante de l\u2019architecture, et donc de l\u2019usage que fait Renzo Piano des techniques qui lui donnent corps. Comme dans l\u2019art, la musique ou la mode, ceux qui poss\u00e8dent la plus grande maitrise de la technique, sont conscients de la beaut\u00e9 qui peut surgir de son application savante, en \u00e9vitant l\u2019ornement ou la d\u00e9coration : \u00ab&nbsp;C\u2019est \u00e0 cette occasion que j\u2019ai d\u00e9couvert la beaut\u00e9 de la lumi\u00e8re comme ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne architectural. Et au-del\u00e0 de la lumi\u00e8re, tous les ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes physiques qui naissent dans l\u2019environnement construit, tout ce qui n&#8217;est pas dur et qui forme \u00e0 mon sens l\u2019essentiel du plaisir d&#8217;habiter pour les gens. Or, \u00e0 aucun moment dans la conception je ne me suis dit : &#8220;Je vais chercher \u00e0 obtenir ces effets.&#8221; Ils sont la cons\u00e9quence naturelle de l\u2019application de certains principes. Ils naissent en symbiose avec le traitement rigoureux de la mati\u00e8re et de la construction.&nbsp;\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br><strong>Le symbolisme&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019humain poss\u00e8de naturellement une propension \u00e0 interpr\u00e9ter toute chose en fonction de son histoire, de sa culture ou de ses croyances, en l\u2019\u00e9voquant par des figures iconiques, indicielles ou symboliques ; dans le but ancestral de repr\u00e9senter le monde concret en fonction de ses manifestations abstraites. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Sens<\/em>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La dimension symbolique de l\u2019architecture s&#8217;est \u00e9mancip\u00e9e depuis bien longtemps de I&#8217;acad\u00e9misme doctrinal qui l\u2019a gouvern\u00e9e jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la fin du XIXe si\u00e8cle, comme elle s&#8217;est lib\u00e9r\u00e9e des courants de pens\u00e9e qui se sont succ\u00e9d\u00e9 au cours du XXe si\u00e8cle. Au symbolisme acad\u00e9mique, s&#8217;est substitu\u00e9e une s\u00e9miotique architecturale moins dogmatique, mais tout aussi pr\u00e9gnante. Pour le projet du Centre Culturel Tjibaou, Bernard Plattner explique que I&#8217;id\u00e9e des cases, qui rythment le b\u00e2timent, a permis d&#8217;apposer une identit\u00e9 architecturale extr\u00eamement forte \u00e0 ce projet, \u00e0 la fois lisible et porteuse d&#8217;un certain message.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce que Piano cherche \u00e0 illustrer par la forme architecturale est plus conceptuel qu&#8217;expressionniste. Il colore l\u2019image originelle du projet d&#8217;une aura s\u00e9mantique n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 sa communication durant tout le processus.
