Refusant le march\u00e9 de l\u2019art et l\u2019acad\u00e9misme, <em>Oozewald <\/em>reste cependant l\u2019\u0153uvre d&#8217;art d&#8217;une artiste femme contemporaine qui atteint le record du prix de vente (6,6 M $). Affranchi du tirage photographique, Frank Perrin est fascin\u00e9 par la simplicit\u00e9 et la radicalit\u00e9 de son geste. Tr\u00e8s impr\u00e9gn\u00e9 de cette \u0153uvre, l\u2019artiste con\u00e7oit quarante ans plus tard <em>Blind test (Combat, Pray, Amore)<\/em>, une s\u00e9rie d\u2019images de subversion et de lutte imprim\u00e9es sur carton sans tirage photographique. Rencontre.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"intBlockQR\">\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__Q\"><p>Quelle \u0153uvre vous a particuli\u00e8rement marqu\u00e9 dans votre carri\u00e8re\u00a0?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__R\"><p>C\u2019est une \u0153uvre comportant une s\u00e9rie d\u2019images s\u00e9rigraphi\u00e9es en noir et blanc sur des plaques de m\u00e9tal pos\u00e9es \u00e0 m\u00eame le sol, r\u00e9alis\u00e9e il y a d\u00e9j\u00e0 presque quarante ans, par la fantastique artiste am\u00e9ricaine Cady Noland. Dans cette s\u00e9rie d&#8217;images s\u00e9rigraphi\u00e9es sur m\u00e9tal, il y en a une qui m\u2019a totalement fascin\u00e9. Il s\u2019agit de Oozewald, un clin d&#8217;\u0153il \u00e0 l\u2019assassin de John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Lee Harvey Oswald. Elle a repris une image de presse de ce dernier, juste avant qu\u2019il ne soit assassin\u00e9 \u00e0 son tour par un mafieux de Dallas, et elle l\u2019a reproduite sur une plaque m\u00e9tallique en s\u00e9rigraphie. Mais elle ne s\u2019est pas arr\u00eat\u00e9e l\u00e0 : elle a perfor\u00e9 l\u2019image, cr\u00e9ant des impacts de balles, et enfonc\u00e9 dans la bouche de l\u2019assassin un drapeau class=\"intBlockQR__Q\"><p>O\u00f9 se situe la force de cette \u0153uvre\u00a0?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__R\"><p>Il s\u2019agit de la critique la plus directe, la plus brutale de cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9 am\u00e9ricaine qui s&#8217;est construite, en partie, sur le crime. Il y a toujours eu des parall\u00e8les entre Lincoln et Kennedy, et les fondations criminelles des \u00c9tats-Unis. Cette violence, Cady Noland, n\u2019a cess\u00e9 de la questionner et de la repr\u00e9senter de la mani\u00e8re la plus cash, la plus frontale, avec du m\u00e9tal. J\u2019ai vu en elle une mani\u00e8re lib\u00e9r\u00e9e de faire de l\u2019art, sans concession, sans compromis, sans calcul. C\u2019\u00e9tait une \u0153uvre rare, soudaine, froide, qui a fait table rase de plein de choses. Et je me suis demand\u00e9 comment atteindre une telle puissance avec des trous, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire en mettant au centre le vide.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"intBlockQR\">\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__Q\"><p>Les trous dans l\u2019 \u0153uvre de Cady Noland\u00a0vous interpellent et vous questionnent. \u2028Qu\u2019\u00e9voquent-ils pour vous\u00a0?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__R\"><p>Le trou a une puissance mythique, imaginaire, inconsciente. Ces trous obscurs, myst\u00e9rieux, invisibles et pourtant cod\u00e9s nous lib\u00e8rent autant qu\u2019ils nous construisent. Passer \u00e0 travers l\u2019\u0153uvre, aller au-del\u00e0, derri\u00e8re, c\u2019est un geste iconoclaste. On perfore l\u2019image, mais on invite aussi \u00e0 voir autrement. Un trou peut parfois dire bien plus que tous les bavardages.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"intBlockQR\">\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__Q\"><p>Dans votre \u0153uvre, vous abordez \u00e9galement ce dialogue avec les trous. Que souhaitez-vous exprimer\u00a0?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__R\"><p>Quand j\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 travailler sur ces trous, je ressentais une dette importante envers cette artiste. J\u2019avais aussi en t\u00eate l\u2019\u0153uvre soudaine, abrupte et sauvage de Niki de Saint Phalle, entre ses tirs et les perforations exactes, m\u00e9talliques, glaciales de Cady Noland. \u00c7a m\u2019a plus qu\u2019inspir\u00e9, \u00e7a m\u2019a anim\u00e9, nourri, bien que le propos soit diff\u00e9rent\u00a0: il ne s\u2019agit pas ici d\u2019une critique de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 am\u00e9ricaine, mais d\u2019un questionnement sur la vision elle-m\u00eame.<\/p>\n<p>J\u2019avais envie de pr\u00e9senter des images de subversion, de refus, mais aussi une subversion du regard. Sur des images de col\u00e8re, j\u2019ai introduit des trous, mais ces trous contiennent du braille et, au fond, des miroirs : ainsi, le spectateur, en regardant, ne voit que lui-m\u00eame. J\u2019ai voulu me rapprocher de ceux qui ne voient pas et du vide, pour faire une parabole sur la perception.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<script>\n  $( document ).ready(function() {\n  var Noland au monde de l\u2019art\u00a0?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__R\"><p>Cady Noland, au m\u00eame titre que David Hammons ou F\u00e9lix Gonzalez-Torres, fait partie de ces artistes cultes, secrets, qui nourrissent les imaginaires et les inconscients. L\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat d\u2019un David Hammons ou d\u2019une Cady Noland ne r\u00e9side pas dans leur influence formelle, mais dans la force des messages qu\u2019ils envoient \u00e0 leur public, chacun les recevant et les assimilant de mille mani\u00e8res diff\u00e9rentes. Leur puissance vient du fait qu\u2019ils nous poussent \u00e0 aller ailleurs, plus loin, autrement.<\/p>\n<p>\u2028La r\u00e9sistance de Cady Noland au march\u00e9, malgr\u00e9 le fait qu\u2019elle ait atteint des prix ind\u00e9cents, rejoint la m\u00eame dialectique qu\u2019un David Hammons. Ils prouvent que l\u2019on peut toucher le sommet du march\u00e9 tout en le questionnant, sans jamais faire la moindre concession. C\u2019est \u00e7a, leur force : ils ont fait peu, mais ils ont fait excellemment.
