M\u00e9duse, belle jeune fille punie par Ath\u00e9na pour s\u2019\u00eatre unie \u00e0 Pos\u00e9idon, r\u00e9fugi\u00e9e dans une grotte, elle est d\u00e9busqu\u00e9e par le h\u00e9ros grec Pers\u00e9e qui la d\u00e9capite et remet sa t\u00eate \u00e0 Ath\u00e9na qui la fixe sur son bouclier (\u00e9gide). Plus tard, elle incarnera cette ambivalence \u00e0 la fois b\u00e9n\u00e9fique et mal\u00e9fique, masculine et f\u00e9minine, une furie guerri\u00e8re qui p\u00e9trifie tout mortel qui croise son regard\u2026 L\u2019artiste r\u00eave dans une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de techniques (carton, dessin, broderie) ces diff\u00e9rents mondes imaginaires de l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9 et de la Renaissance. Grottes, for\u00eats fossiles, bois, architectures, jardins, de l\u2019or\u00e9e des bois aux grottes antiques, Eva Jospin joue avec le r\u00e9el et laisse le visiteur se surprendre et se porter par l\u2019illusion tout au long de la d\u00e9couverte des \u0153uvres.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"intBlockQR\">\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__Q\"><p>Quelle \u0153uvre a marqu\u00e9 votre vie d\u2019artiste\u00a0?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__R\"><p>Beaucoup d\u2019\u0153uvres m&#8217;ont marqu\u00e9 tout au long de ma carri\u00e8re. Je ne suis pas s\u00fbre d&#8217;en avoir d\u00e9j\u00e0 parl\u00e9, mais quand j&#8217;\u00e9tais adolescente, j&#8217;avais une carte postale de la peinture de la Gorgone du Caravage. C&#8217;est une figure qui m&#8217;a toujours beaucoup int\u00e9ress\u00e9e, j\u2019en ai d\u2019ailleurs fait une \u0153uvre qui s&#8217;appelle Le Bois de la Gorgone expos\u00e9e au domaine de Clisson.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/artinterview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/bois-de-la-gorgogne.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13472\" srcset=\"https:\/\/artinterview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/bois-de-la-gorgogne.jpg 750w, https:\/\/artinterview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/bois-de-la-gorgogne-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Eva Jospin, Le bois de la Gorgone, parc de la Garenne-Lemot, \u00a9 Ouest-France<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<div class=\"intBlockQR\">\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__Q\"><p>Cette figure inspirante de la Gorgone est ambivalente : elle passe de monstre hybride durant l\u2019antique \u00e0 l\u2019arch\u00e9type de la femme fatale, envo\u00fbtante et dangereuse pour les hommes, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque romantique. Cette cr\u00e9ature a toujours int\u00e9ress\u00e9 de nombreux artistes&#8230; <\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__R\"><p>Cette figure m&#8217;a toujours fascin\u00e9e. D&#8217;abord, parce qu\u2019elle plonge au c\u0153ur de r\u00e9cits mythologiques qui m&#8217;int\u00e9ressent et cr\u00e9ent un univers, une inspiration forte pour mon travail. Par ailleurs, la Gorgone vit dans une grotte, et les grottes me fascinent. Aussi, je crois qu\u2019\u00e0 l&#8217;adolescence, et m\u00eame \u00e0 d&#8217;autres moments de la vie, l\u2019id\u00e9e d&#8217;\u00eatre p\u00e9trifi\u00e9e m&#8217;a toujours fait peur. L&#8217;id\u00e9e qu\u2019\u00e0 un moment, quand on a le go\u00fbt de la contemplation, le risque, c&#8217;est de n&#8217;\u00eatre que dans la contemplation, de rester immobile et de se p\u00e9trifier, de ne plus agir. Or, j&#8217;ai besoin de faire, de cr\u00e9er, mais toujours avec cette crainte de me figer. La Gorgone est donc une figure que j&#8217;ai toujours trouv\u00e9 assez fascinante. Comment avez-vous approch\u00e9 cette production artistique m\u00ealant plusieurs m\u00e9diums ?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__R\"><p>Je trouvais qu\u2019il \u00e9tait int\u00e9ressant de montrer, dans cette exposition, comment naissent les bifurcations entre le dessin, la broderie mais aussi de jouer aussi sur les questions de l\u2019illusion et du trompe-l\u2019\u0153il. Par exemple, j&#8217;ai choisi de faire comme un triptyque, qui part d&#8217;une petite for\u00eat en carton, puis une version brod\u00e9e, en trois dimensions de cette for\u00eat. Mais la for\u00eat en carton joue d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e0 imiter la for\u00eat, on ne sait plus tr\u00e8s bien qui imite qui. Donc \u00e7a m\u2019amusait beaucoup de travailler sur cette question du trompe l\u2019\u0153il, ou en tout cas, de l&#8217;illusion, et de jouer \u00e0 imiter mon propre travail en utilisant un autre mat\u00e9riau qui singe un mat\u00e9riau qui, d\u00e9j\u00e0 mime, le r\u00e9el. Photo: Benoit Fougeirol. \u00a9 ADAGP, Paris, 2024<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<div class=\"intBlockQR\">\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__Q\"><p>Imagination fertile\u2026 Comme un mythe le fait, d\u2019o\u00f9 vient ce besoin d\u2019inventer des mondes imaginaires ?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n    <div class=\"intBlockQR__R\"><p>Cette question des contre-mondes et des mondes invent\u00e9s vient directement du besoin d\u2019affronter le r\u00e9el. Cette notion est tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sente dans l\u2019exposition, puisqu&#8217;il y a aussi des \u0153uvres, notamment une \u0153uvre qui s&#8217;appelle Promontoire, un petit jardin en r\u00e9duction, dans lequel on peut se promener, puisqu&#8217;il y a des marches, des \u00e9chelles, un vrai petit promontoire, un labyrinthe qui reprend exactement le labyrinthe disparu du jardin de Versailles. Mon exposition \u00e9voque donc aussi des lieux r\u00e9els, en plus des lieux fictifs.
